The mode of action of the anabolic steroid trenbolone acetate (19-norandrost-4,9,11-trien-3-one-17-acetate) was studied through the endogenous hormonal response of castrated male sheep to subcutaneous implantation of 140 mg of trenbolone acetate and 20 mg of oestradiol both separately and in combination. Radioimmunoassay of delta-4,9,11-trienic steroids and oestradiol-17 beta in plasma confirmed that simultaneous administration of trenbolone acetate with oestradiol led to a significantly greater persistence of oestradiol-17 beta residues in plasma (P less than ) than with implantation of oestradiol alone. Oestradiol treatment increased concentrations of growth hormone and insulin (P less than ; P less than respectively) in plasma samples collected weekly. Trenbolone acetate by itself had no significant effect and the oestrogenic response was blocked on the simultaneous implantation of trenbolone acetate and oestradiol (despite higher plasma levels of oestradiol-17 beta with this treatment). Plasma total thyroxine was markedly depressed to 45 per cent of its basal level by trenbolone acetate, alone or with oestradiol (P less than ) and depressed to 80 per cent of basal by oestradiol treatment alone (P less than ). Plasma prolactin was unaltered by the above treatments.

The new study examined recent stretch marks and found that they had a higher density of hormone receptors than normal skin, and estrogen appeared to be the most concentrated. Since estrogen is involved in skin healing, that could represent the body’s attempt to heal the injured skin tissue. From the standpoint of steroid users, the greater number of estrogen receptors in stretch marks could also represent a defense against the high level of androgens, which interfere with skin healing. That latter part, however, is strictly speculation. What is known is that stretch marks have a higher density of hormone receptors than normal skin.

This hormone will not and cannot promote water retention, meaning each and every pound of weight gained due to use will be lean muscle mass. Of equal importance will be this steroid’s ability to help the individual control fat gain during a period of growth. To achieve true growth, this will require total caloric intake to be slightly above maintenance levels. How far above will vary from one man to the next, and while many often take it too far, this phase will still require a slight surplus. Unfortunately, this necessary surplus will promote body fat gains but due to the metabolic factors that surround Trenbolone Acetate they will be minimized. This is not a license to eat like there’s no end in sight, you can still gain a lot of fat if you continually gorge but you should be able to make better use of your total caloric intake. Those who supplement with Trenbolone Acetate during off-season periods of growth should gain less body fat than they would have without it.
